Transforming the Sustainability Educational Landscape: How Technology Makes Learning Accessible, Efficient, and Simplified!
Logos of the tech we use!
At Future Green, we understand that the world of sustainability can often feel overwhelming, especially for those just starting their journey. That’s why we’re harnessing the power of cutting-edge technology, including AI, to transform how we design and deliver our courses. We’re not just talking about tech for tech’s sake; we’re using it to demystify complex terms and jargon that often keep newcomers at bay.
From our Carbon Literacy Project (CLP) for Food and Drink Businesses to our newly launched corresponding Train the Trainer (TTT) program, we are dedicated to providing high quality educational experiences by reinforcing innovation and efficiency. Keep reading to discover more about the tech we use!
How we have been experimenting with AI!
1. Simplifying Complex Ideas
In a recent webinar, we shared our secrets to delivering engaging sustainability training. One standout secret? Leveraging tech to enhance teaching and to attract learners. AI is a game-changer! Tools like ChatGPT or Perplexity AI can help us distill complicated concepts into relatable language, transforming overwhelming terms into ideas you can grasp quickly.
Take for example jargon like GWP “global warming potential.”
Traditional definitions can be daunting:
“The term is used to describe the relative potency, molecule for molecule, of a greenhouse gas, taking account of how long it remains active in the atmosphere. Carbon Dioxide is taken as the gas of reference and given a 100-year GWP of 1.”
-Definition by the European Commission
That’s a mouthful! With AI, we can simplify it into something meaningful. Instead of drowning in jargon, you’ll understand essential ideas with ease. We often use analogies and storytelling techniques to visualize the issue at hand—like this one where our prompt was to use balloons as visual to explain a concept. See an example below of how ChatGPT helped us to simplify GWP!

We’re not just teaching sustainability; we’re making it relatable and actionable.
2. Using AI to promote our course in different languages!
To promote our Train the Trainer course, our CEO, Heidi, delivered a promotional video featuring 10 different languages! The catch? She doesn’t actually speak them. We used the AI software HeyGen which translated her spoken English words.
This proves that language doesn’t have to be a barrier to spreading essential sustainability knowledge and action. With the use of AI, we can drive change worldwide!

3. NotebookLM to summarise project documents
We recently wrapped up an exciting workshop with Swire Properties on the Green Kitchen Initiative. Now, instead of drowning in piles of documents, resources, and project details, we took a bold step forward. We used NotebookLM to transform all that heavy content into something sleek, digestible, and—most importantly—easy to listen to.
Why write endless reports when you can simply tune in? It’s faster, it’s easier, and let’s be honest—it’s way more enjoyable. Turning all that work into a podcast was a game-changer. Suddenly, we could get the gist of the project, the key takeaways, and the action points without the usual scroll-and-scan grind.
Great Collaborative and Promotion Tools!
Our Zoom calls where we hold our Monthly Meetups, Webinars, and Trainings!
We believe that learning about sustainability should be as dynamic and engaging as the world we aim to protect. We’re not just offering courses; we’re crafting experiences that blend Carbon Literacy Project learning with Design Thinking principles. Our goal? To create programmes that not only inform but engage and inspire.
One of our favourite tools is Senja, integrating it with our comms streamlines our testimonials pulling them into one place, making it easier to showcase the impact of our courses. This has been a game changer for our marketing efforts! See our wall of love here! This also helps our trainers to collect testimonials effortlessly.
Notion – a project management tool plays a crucial role in keeping us organised and providing participants with easy access to course materials. For our Carbon Literacy Program (CLP) and Train the Trainer courses, Notion serves as an external hub where participants can find all necessary documents, reading materials, and training recordings in one convenient place. See an example below from our CLP course:
Example of our Notion Page from the CLP Course!
To enhance interactive learning, we use Butter for real-time video discussions and Miro as our digital whiteboard for brainstorming sessions. Whether it’s sketching out ideas or mapping out solutions, Miro helps us visualise our collective goals and strategies. We have used Miro to run sustainability sprints, to run a ‘Plan-o-Rama’ workshop which commits teams to tasks in a pledge over a visualised timeline as part of our CLP course, and many other engaging activities as part of our webinars or courses.

Not to mention, Canva! It’s a game changer in the world of design, making it incredibly easy for anyone to create beautiful visuals without needing a graphic design background. We have used this software extensively to shape our brand and produce social media posts to promote our courses in just a few clicks! We love the automated features like bulk uploads.
Engagement Tools!
To increase engagement within our training sessions, we incorporate tools like Kahoot and Mentimeter. These platforms turn learning into an enjoyable experience by introducing quizzes and polls that spark interaction among participants – a little competition and gamification goes a long way.

A great quiz software has been ScoreApp where we design our sustainability quizzes and attract customers along the way! We often promote ScoreApp on our website to give people a taste of Carbon Literacy or Sustainable Procurement before inviting them to purchase the respective course. Check out our Sustainable Procurement scorecard below!

We are committed to transforming the sustainability training landscape by using innovative technologies that simplify complex concepts and foster collaboration! By integrating tools like AI, Skool, Senja, Notion, Butter, Miro, and Canva into our programmes, we not only enhance the learning experience but also create a vibrant community of passionate individuals eager to make a difference.
Sustainability, though a serious topic, doesn’t have to be delivered in a boring way. Not everyone learns through reams and reams of peer reviewed papers so making learning complex topics accessible and using tech to do that is our secret sauce!
Our approach ensures that sustainability is not just an abstract idea but a relatable and actionable journey for everyone involved!
