WHY THE URGENCY?

At COP29, food systems were reinforced as central to climate action — 94% of countries now include them in their climate plans (UNFCCC, 2024).
Agriculture and food are responsible for 86% of species at risk of extinction, the biggest driver of biodiversity loss (UNEP).
They’re also a top source of methane emissions, yet 66% of livestock emissions and 82% from food supply chains remain unaccounted for in climate plans (UNFCCC, 2024).
The IPCC warns that climate change is already reducing crop yields and nutritional value in key regions (IPCC).
