Why Celebrating Trainers Matters More Than Ever

Last week I finally met the core team at The Carbon Literacy Project in Manchester UK – and it was so worth it!

🤝 Meeting fellow Carbon Literacy trainers — the joy of connection and shared purpose.

Being a trainer isn’t just about delivering content. It’s about showing up with energy, holding space for others, and constantly adapting to the needs of the people in front of us.

And yet, as anyone who’s walked this path knows, being a trainer or consultant can be a lonely journey. Much of the work happens behind the scenes—designing sessions, refining slides, researching the latest evidence—and often, we do it solo. That’s why taking time to celebrate with trainers isn’t just a nice extra. It’s essential.

Recently, at a gathering of Carbon Literacy trainers, the importance of community and celebration came into sharp focus. The event was a reminder that while each of us might deliver sessions in our own corners of the world, we are part of something much bigger. When trainers come together, the sparks fly. Ideas are swapped, challenges are shared, encouragement flows, and suddenly the road ahead doesn’t feel quite so solitary.

Re-energising through connection

Celebrating the 2024–25 cohort of Carbon Literacy trainers, every name represents a spark of change.

One of the strongest takeaways from the event was just how energising it can be to meet others in the same boat. Many trainers spoke about how connecting with peers reminded them why they do this work in the first place. A simple conversation over coffee turned into an idea for a new workshop. A casual chat in the corridor became a moment of solidarity about the challenges of engaging difficult audiences. The message was clear: when trainers gather, we leave with our batteries recharged.

The power of likeminded community

Trainers turned Consultants- celebrating milestones and achievements together.

There’s something deeply affirming about being surrounded by people who “get it.” People who understand the highs of a session that clicks, and the lows of a group that won’t engage. Celebrating with likeminded trainers isn’t about ego or competition—it’s about recognition. It’s about saying: your work matters, my work matters, and together we’re pushing something vital forward.

For new trainers especially, stepping into the room felt like joining a movement. Watching experienced facilitators share their stories was a powerful reminder that growth happens collectively. Celebrating each other’s journeys—whether it’s your first delivery or your fiftieth—cements a sense of belonging and purpose.

Reaching new heights

The impact so far: over 140,000 citizens certified, thousands of organisations engaged, and real carbon savings delivered.

The event also highlighted the incredible growth of Carbon Literacy Project (CLP). The numbers speak for themselves: more people, more organisations, more trainers. Every statistic represents not just another certificate, but another person empowered with knowledge to act on the climate crisis. Trainers are at the heart of that ripple effect. Without trainers, there’s no scale. Without trainers, the knowledge stops at the page. By celebrating trainers, we acknowledge the role they play in turning ideas into impact.

Why everyone should be carbon literate

Carbon Literacy is spreading worldwide — from Europe to Africa, Asia, and beyond.

Celebrating trainers is also a way of underlining the mission itself: that everyone should be carbon literate. This isn’t just a nice-to-have skill for a small group of specialists. Climate change touches every part of our lives, and the ability to understand, discuss, and act on carbon is as fundamental as financial literacy or digital literacy. Trainers are the catalysts making that possible, translating complex science into meaningful action.

A celebration that fuels the future

So why does celebrating trainers matter? Because in doing so, we fuel the very movement we’re all a part of. Recognition builds confidence. Community builds resilience. Shared moments of joy remind us that while the work is serious, the spirit with which we do it can be light and hopeful.

If you’ve ever attended a Carbon Literacy training, you know the difference it can make. If you’ve ever thought about becoming a trainer, know that there’s a vibrant, supportive community ready to welcome you. And if you’re already on the journey, take a moment to celebrate yourself—you’re part of a growing force that is shaping a carbon literate future for everyone.

Carbon Literacy continues to grow, scale, and inspire action globally.
