Swire Properties Hong Kong The Challenge

Many F&B businesses whether QSR chains, single outlets, or high end, struggle with implementing sustainable practices due to a lack of clear guidance. While issues like waste management and energy efficiency are well-known, translating awareness into actionable steps remains a hurdle.

Our Approach

Future Green and Swire Properties co-designed an interactive workshop series focused on delivering practical, measurable sustainability actions. The key elements included:

  • Sailboat Exercise – This activity helped participants identify operational strengths and challenges, particularly in areas such as kitchen recycling and waste segregation.
  • Green Kitchen Matching Game – Designed as a dynamic engagement tool, it familiarised tenants with the Green Kitchen 3.0 Audit while aligning sustainability pillars with practical actions.
  • Impact-Effort Matrix – By assessing potential impact versus effort required, this strategic tool guided teams in prioritising key tasks like consumer education and expanding sustainable sourcing networks.
  • Gaps in Action Assessment – Using a visual, colour-coded system, this assessment enabled quick identification of areas needing improvement within the Green Kitchen framework.

Our highly engaging workshops led to significant progress:

  • Clearer Roadmaps – With structured guidance, participants transformed abstract sustainability concepts into tangible, actionable steps.
  • Greater Engagement – Through an interactive format, the workshops fostered collaboration and motivated tenants to take an active role in sustainability efforts.
  • Measurable Improvements – Post-workshop assessments highlighted progress in energy efficiency, waste reduction, and overall environmental performance among participating tenants.

This partnership between Swire Properties and Future Green demonstrates how targeted, collaborative initiatives can drive meaningful change in food sustainability across the F&B sector.
