RE-THINKING FOOD DELIVERY PACKAGING
We know that re-using is better than recycling and now the re-use model is helping to address the growing problem of takeaway packaging. Huge growth in food delivery and takeaway means there is more single-use takeaway packaging than ever. Now, Dispatch Goods has introduced re-usable containers that can be delivered to customers, returned for cleaning and then used again by restaurants, hundreds of times. Initially available for office lunches, the business has quickly adapted to working more directly with restaurants. Trials with delivery service DoorDash in San Francisco are exceeding expectations and customer take up is positive. Adopting a more circular approach could offer a scalable alternative for takeaway packaging problems.
