Chartwells Hong Kong | Compass Group Food Visioning with a Strategy Sprint. Our approach:

Chartwells, among the world’s foremost contract food service providers and a division of Compass Group PLC, realised a gap when facing new competitors among the catering industry where there’s heavy focus on partnering with clients on sustainability strategy to move forward together for a greener future. The objective was to underscore their commitment and their strength in sustainability.

To address this, Future Green crafted a comprehensive strategy, encompassing a workshop designed to refine the overall strategy that’s suitable for the Hong Kong market. This approach also included conducting mock interviews to assist bidders. The ultimate goal was to establish Chartwells as the leading sustainable food catering service.

The Solution

Market Analysis: We undertook a detailed analysis of five competitors, both locally and internationally, offering Chartwells a nuanced understanding of the market landscape, essential for strategic positioning.

Mock Interviews: To enhance Chartwells’ preparedness, we conducted comprehensive stakeholder interviews and simulated interviews. This approach significantly improved Chartwells’ ability to articulate their sustainability initiatives confidently.

Strategy Development: A targeted ‘Strategy Sprint’ workshop was organised for the Chartwells Leadership team, consisting of two pivotal sessions. The first session focused on dissecting current trends in sustainability within the global and local school food service sector. The second session, aimed at evaluating Chartwells’ internal strengths and areas for improvement, concluding with a strategic roadmap tailored to meet the sustainability objectives of their target client.

The Outcomes Achieved

Enhanced Leadership Knowledge: The Chartwells team acquired an advanced comprehension of prevailing food sustainability trends, best practices, as well as relevant industry case studies. They enriched this knowledge by gaining a deeper insight into their client’s priorities and challenges, which enabled a more informed approach to meeting their needs.

Actionable Plan Established: A strategic framework was developed, delineating key areas for immediate, medium-term, and long-term initiatives. This plan was collaboratively refined and agreed upon, ensuring a cohesive path forward.

RFP Readiness Achieved: Chartwells was furnished with a comprehensive and localised action plan for sustainability, bolstering their confidence and capability to address and navigate future sustainability challenges effectively, particularly for clients within similar sectors.
